 As children transition from one grade level to the next we are sometimes lulled into the belief that our involvement becomes less needed.  Having dedicated nearly three decades to educating students at the middle level,

I can assure you that the opposite is quite true.  Middle school students need and although they do not always acknowledge it, want  your support and guidance.

Please maintain your involvement in your child's education.  Visit your child's school  and communicate with teachers, guidance counselors and all others who have a vested interest in your child's education and development.

Remember, the best gift that you can give to your child is your time, encouragement and  guidance.

   Powder Mill Middle School considers the whole child in its implementation of appropriate programs.  Educational decisions for early adolescents are based on students' emotional, physical, social, and intellectual development.

    A Supportive, caring climate pervades our school.  Powder Mill Middle School is a place where high levels of learning take place, where students and teachers are enthusiastic, and where parents feel proud to send their child to school.  Students are encouraged to value learning and to work hard to obtain the basic skills needed.  We have high expectations of all students and they are not labeled because of their limitations.  Students are taught how to learn.
